Pastor Steve shares these links to stimulate some Thursday Thoughts…

The end of a year always carries plenty of “Next Year” plans and intentions. The blogosphere will gladly give you more challenge to commit than you can possibly meet. I have a few considerations for you – – ALL ABOUT READING!

A 2016 Reading Challenge – – Tim Challies has a great little challenge (including a super graphic to make it easier) that has categories for “The Light Reader”, “The Avid Reader”, “The Committed Reader”, and “The Obsessed Reader”. He writes: “Whether you are a light reader or completely obsessed, this 2016 Reading Challenge is designed to help you read more and to broaden the scope of your reading.” You can read the rest HERE.

A 21 Category Top 10 – – David Murray has book recommendations (an excellent source for Christmas Giving!) from 21 different categories, including: “Top Ten Biographies of Christian Men”, “Top Ten Biographies of Christian Women”, “Top Ten Gospel Books for Children”, “Top Ten Books on Marriage”, and “Top Ten Books on Depression” – – you can see all the lists HERE.

Journals, Journals, More Journals – – A great way to keep up with current issues facing the church, most recent theological perspectives, and historical defenses of the Christian faith is by reading respected Christian Journals. Here are three that are accessible online to get you started:

  • Themelios – Themelios is an international, evangelical, peer-reviewed theological journal that expounds and defends the historic Christian faith. D. A. Carson is the General Editor. You can read HERE.
  • 9Marks Journal – The 9Marks Journal aims to equip pastors and Christians with tools for their trade, both practical and theological. Articles and book reviews cover everything from church discipline, to the missional church, to elder training, to marriage & divorce matters, to preaching Christ from the Old Testament, to much more. You can read HERE.

The Master’s Seminary Journal – A publication of The Master’s Seminary, Dr. John MacArthur, President. You can read the rest HERE.
