The Joy of Not Sinning: Tim Challies points to a joy we all wish we could experience more often … “Putting sin to death is never easy—life does not bring much that is the rare combination of easy and worth doing. Sanctification is no exception. Yet few things are more rewarding, more encouraging, than seeing victory over sin, seeing a pet sin begin to look ugly, seeing its power erode, seeing its prevalence diminish. Few things bring so great a sense of God’s pleasure and so great an opportunity for worship than not sinning in the face of what was once a near-irresistible temptation.” You can read the rest HERE.

The Joy of Remembering the Pit: David Murray actually points us back to a dark place in order to celebrate the joy of today … “But what’s the point in going back to such a hideous and ugly place? Why remember the hole of the pit from which we’ve been dug? So that we can appreciate the solid rock all the more, sing the new song even louder, and enjoy calculating the incalculable sum of God’s mercies towards us (Psalm 40:1-5).” You can read the rest HERE.

The Joy That Will Not Come: A lot of Christians struggle to experience joy. Why? Jim Johnston at Desiring God writes … “If we are not absolutely convinced that God alone is good, we will not be able to say “No” to other gods that promise joy but deliver sorrow.
