Lord’s Day Worship/Ministries Dismissed
We have determined it is prudent to dismiss all of tomorrow’s activities @ Grace: Worship, Baptism and Theology.
While we were able to get all of the parking lots cleared earlier in the week – and the sidewalks shoveled yesterday – Friday night’s snow/ice along with the rain today has made all of those cleared areas an icy/slushy mess.
This morning we re-cleared the sidewalk areas, but with nowhere for the water to drain, and freezing temperatures predicted overnight and in the morning, all of our efforts will likely be ice tomorrow morning. We simply don’t have the equipment/supply to make the parking lot accessible.
The assembling together of the believers at Grace is a vital benefit to our spiritual life and strength; one we do not forsake without wisdom’s warrant. At the same time, we rejoice in the reality of the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit ministering to our souls, strengthening our faith, and sustaining our hope. We had planned tomorrow, as our corporate confession, to recite together the Apostles’ Creed … I print it here now, with the commentary surrounding it:
Philip Schaff, in his Creeds of Christendom, writes of the Apostles’ Creed, “As the Lord’s Prayer is the Prayer of prayers, the Decalogue is the Law of laws, so the Apostles’ Creed is the Creed of creeds.”
J.I. Packer affirms its simplicity and sufficiency in expressing our Christian faith. He writes: “In it …
“First, I learn to believe in God the Father, who hath made me, and all the world.
“Secondly, in God the Son who hath redeemed me, and all mankind.
“Thirdly, in God the Holy Ghost, who sanctifieth me, and all the elect people of God.”
For many centuries – those presenting themselves to the church for baptism would recite this Creed as a summary of the faith they were now publicly
declaring.
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead and buried;
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand
of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come
to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hospice of Southern Kentucky
This Sunday, April 14, the Hospice ministry team will be meeting at Grace at 4:30, then heading over to Hospice of Southern Kentucky at 4:45 pm. The purpose of the ministry is to serve the patients, families,
and work staff at Hospice through music, fellowship, and prayer. If you would like to participate by playing an instrument, singing, or joining in fellowship please contact Jessica Wilson or Mike Troyer.
