THURSDAY THOUGHTS: Vol 2 | Is 12

Pastor Steve shares these links to stimulate some Thursday Thoughts…

Some Cynology (Look it up)…
Would Your Dog Eat You…? – So many folks are dog lovers. They are, it is said, man’s best friend. But is there something else lurking there, waiting to break out when you die? This article from National Geographic might make you a bit squeamish – but is nonetheless interesting. They write: “No one tracks the frequency of pets scavenging their expired owners’ bodies, but dozens of such case reports appear in forensic science journals over the last 20 years or so, and they’re the best window we have into a situation dreaded by pet owners: dying alone and being eaten.” You can read the rest HERE, if you dare.

Some Theology …
Theological Primer: Limited Atonement – Kevin DeYoung writing for The Gospel Coalition looks at a profound and often controversial doctrine: limited atonement. And he does it in less than 500 words. Kevin writes: “’Amazing love!’ a great Arminian once wrote. ‘How can it be that you, my God, should die for me?!’ Praise be to our Good Shepherd who didn’t just make our salvation possible, but sustained the anger of God in body and soul, shouldered the curse, and laid down his life for the sheep.” You can read the rest HERE.

Some Photography …
“Dog Photographer of the Year” – It seemed only fair, given the whole dog-eating-human-story, that I share these adorable pics from the Kennel Club Annual Dog Photographer of the Year contest. The pictures are the heart of the post which concludes with this: “Honestly, we could probably go on forever. Every last one of these photos is just so cute. But we’ve reached the end of our leash.” Take a look HERE. Enjoy!
