The sinner is held in bondage: held by the guilt of Adam’s sin, held by the guilt of his own sin, and held by the forces of darkness that work to blind him to the gospel. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and set the captive free. The question is: can He? Does He have the authority and the power to do what He set out to do?
