Family Matters
The Testimony of Baptism – Scott Gural Join us Sunday, October 26th, as we celebrate the work of God’s grace in the life of Scott Gural.  Drakes Creek @ Phil Moore Park (Olde Stone Side).  If you have questions about your own baptism or desire to be baptized, please see Pastor Dennis.

Matters of Prayer – It has often been said: “Prayer doesn’t change things – it changes people.” Well, there is some truth in that – but the profound truth of prayer isn’t that simple. It sounds more like this: “Those things that God has ordained would be changed by prayer will be changed by prayer – and God will see to it that the prayer is prayed.” That applies to people and things – equally. We should add this: “Prayer will not change God or God’s divine intention – – for He is immutable, unchangeable, and without equivocation.” So we pray – – to a God whose intentions will always come to pass; even and especially those intentions that will be brought about by our prayers. Not knowing His intention doesn’t keep us from praying – it surrenders our prayers, necessarily, to God’s secret and divine will. So we pray … and we express our heart for healing, for comfort and for deliverance – always resting, always surrendering, each and every care into His sovereign will.

It’s Gotta Be One or the Other
“The real issue comes down to the question of who saves us. Does God save us, or do we, with some help from God, save ourselves? That’s rather stark, so let me expand upon that. What I mean, and what I’m trying to get at, is who is the ultimate decider in the matter of our salvation? Is God the one who ultimately decides if I end up in heaven or hell, or am I the one who ultimately decides if I end up in heaven or hell? Quickly, someone will say that both God and I decide. There is truth there, but there can be only one ultimate decider, one person who makes the final determination.”

Behold Your Mother
“What does Jesus’ example offer for his followers? It reminds us that honoring our parents isn’t simply payback for their care for us in childhood. It’s not a reward dependent on how well they parented us. Care for your parents is a reflection of what we believe about the gospel.”

Will God Protect My Children?
My friend was no longer questioning the reality of God, Christ, the resurrection, or even his own need for a savior. He was questioning God’s plan. He was questioning God’s intentions. Simply put, he was scared of God. This is really the broader question of suffering. But it is also particular. It is not, “Why does God allow suffering in general?” It was not even a “why” question. It was a “will” question. What will God do? What can I expect as a child of God? Is he going to require too much of me? It is a question of counting the cost of following the Lord.” You can read the rest HERE.
