Volume 1 | Issue 8 – June 11, 2015

This Thursday, we draw our thoughts from God’s Word. Good reading…

Lessons From Israel – Paul’s letter to Rome (the book of Romans) is deep, rich, theologically pointed and practical; all at the same time. In Chapter 9 he delves into Israel’s history of election, rejection, and hope in the grace that only faith affords. TRUTH POINTS in this chapter include: “They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.” (9:4) – “But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring…” (9:6-7a) – “This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.” (9:8) – “For he says to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.’ So then it depends not on human will or exertion,[b] but on God, who has mercy.” (9:15-16) – You should read the rest HERE – – or in your Bible!

Many Will Fall – The Bible is clear – there are many who name the name of Christ but who are, at heart, only pretenders. They will, inevitably, fall away … becoming apostate. In his first letter to him, Paul tells Timothy to expect this and not to be surprised by it. At the same time, he emphasizes the importance that Timothy pay close attention to his own life and doctrine. You can read 1 Timothy 4 HERE or in your own Bible; be informed, be ready, pay close attention!

God’s Final Word – The letter to the Hebrews begins by telling of the ways God has spoken to His children and the unique way He now speaks to us: “in His Son”. The first chapter of Hebrews, then, extols the glory of Christ, the Living Word. Spend some time meditating on this great chapter HERE, or in your own Bible.
