THURSDAY THOUGHTS: Vol 2 | Is 1

Pastor Steve shares these links to stimulate some Thursday Thoughts…

A Savior Stepped Forward Greg Morse at Desiring God focuses some attention on the truth of Jesus’ taking our place of punishment when He died on the cross. He writes: “Jesus stepped forward for you and me — willingly, with authority, and in love. He intervened between a ruined race and God’s righteous wrath to secure his people’s rescue.” You can read the rest HERE.

8 Rules for Growing in Godliness – Rule #6…Redeem Your Time – Tim Challies is writing a series drawn from the work of Thomas Watson. This week’s contribution focuses on the challenge every Christian faces: how do I make the best use of my time? Tim writes: “Time is to be received in trust. As a master distributes money to his servants for safekeeping and gives to some lesser and some greater amounts, God distributes time to his people. Some are given more and some are given less, but all are expected to receive it as a gift from his hand and to put it to use for the furtherance of his purposes.” You can read the rest HERE.

The Happy Fruits of a Digital Diet – David Murray at “HeadHeartHand” Blog shares some observations from “Jake” who took on the challenge of redeeming the time by doing a DIGITAL DETOX. His experience has some very good insights. He writes: “I had noticeably less difficulty getting myself into a focused state for devotions, and the fruitfulness of my meditations increased. My mind wanders less when I pray. I can focus better during sermons, even with a two-year-old at my side. The frustration that I would experience thinking through hard spiritual matters wasn’t there anymore, or at least not to the same degree. The most wonderful fruit of digital detox is the enlarged capacity to be a happier, more joyful Christian.” You can read the rest HERE.
